Andes Race Regulations 13K, 30K, 60K y 100K
Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August 2022

IMPORTANT: It is OBLIGATION of every particpant to review and understand the Andes Race Regulations prior to registering for the competition and prior to race since it could be modified.


A. Organization

  • A1. Andes Race S.A.C. Co-Organizes the Andes Race with the collaboration of the communes of Ollantaytambo, Huarán and Lares.

  • C2. The Andes Race regulation stipulates that a minimum of 3 participants is required to open the category. In case of not having that amount, the registered will go to the next lower category. Ages are computed until December 31 of the Present Year.


D. About the conditions of participation in Andes Race 13K, 30K, 60K and 100K

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that the runner:

  • D1. Be aware of the conditions of the race: difficulty, altitude, distance, and be technically and mentally prepared to travel the entire chosen Andes Race route.
  • D2. Having the physical capabilities required by the level of self-sufficiency of this trail running competition in Cusco.
  • D3. Every participant must present to the organization a Covid-19 Vaccination Card or presnet a Negative Antigen Covid-19 test performed within 24 hours prior to race.
  • D4. Recognize that the organization is not responsible or obliged to solve problems of decreased performance, physical and mental discomfort, exhaustion or pain during the tour, caused by lack of acclimatization and conditioning, poor training or lack of technical training for mountain running and in the geographic and climatic conditions of the Andes Race.
  • D5. Be of legal age and properly identified.
  • D6. Have a MEDICAL CERTIFICATE (MANDATORY) that certifies that the competitor is in optimal conditions for the race. The certificate must have a maximum of 6 months of issued before the date of the race and must have at least HEART, Lung and Hemoglobin EXAMS. This requirement will be exchanged for the competitor’s kit. (APPLIES TO ALL DISTANCES)
  • D7. Have an accident medical insurance. (MANDATORY – APPLIES TO ALL DISTANCES)
  • D8. The lack of the requirements in D4 and D5 at the time of delivery of the competitor kit, will imply the cancellation of the competitor’s registration in the race without refund.


E. About the Competitor´s Kit

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • E1. To withdraw the Competitor Kit, it is mandatory to present the competitor’s medical certificate. The Competitor Kit will be exchanged for the indicated certificates. Failure to present these at the time of delivery of the competitor’s kit will imply the cancellation of the competitor’s registration in the race without refund.
  • E2. The Kit for all distances will contain a bib, competition t-shirt and 4 safety pins.
  • E3. Collection of the Kit will be done according to the schedule published on the website.
  • E4. A competitor may withdraw the kit from another competitor by presenting a POWER OF ATTORNEY with a copy of the latter’s ID.
  • E5. Withdrawing the Competitor Kit implies acceptance of the Release of Liability by the athlete.
  • E6. The Kit is withdrawn in person, under no circumstances will it be sent to the competitor’s address inside or outside the country.


F. About the Hydration Points (PH) and the Supply Point (PA)

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • F1. Andes Race in all its distances, is a semi-autonomy race.
  • F2. The 13K, 30K, 60K and 100K distance will have hydration points (PH)
  • F3. The 30k, 60K and 100K distance will have refreshment points (PA) along the route. These points will mostly have: Fruits, soup, potatoes, raisins, cereal, caramels, toast with jam, tea, coffee and water.
  • F4. 13K will not have a refreshment point (PA)
  • F5. If in any PH or PA a competitor does not wish to continue the race, he may indicate it to the person responsible for the point and wait for his evacuation. The competitor must remain in the PC until his evacuation. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to the exclusion of the competitor in future sporting events of the organization. If, in addition, the competitor does not wait for the evacuation offered by the organization, his transfer will be at the competitor’s expense and risk.
  • F6. Disposable hydration containers (bottles) should not be removed from the Hydration Points (PH) or refreshment points (PA). Doing this is a reason for penalty. No point of hydration (PH) will have disposable glasses so each runner must have their own container to hydrate.


G. About DropBags

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • G1. The 100K and 60K distances offers to carry a DropBag.
  • G2. The competitor may deliver a bag of a maximum of 30 liters with everything necessary for the second part of the course. The organization will take it to Huacawasi, as well as return it to the competition’s arrival point (Ollantaytambo).
  • G3. The competitor must consign his bag in the delivery of kits.
  • G4. You will be given a card with your bib number so that you can put it in a visible place in your bag.
  • G5.The identification to collect the bag is your bib.


H. About Evacuation Points (PE)

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • H1. The competitor may abandon the race at the Evacuation Points (PE), indicating it to the PE manager. The competitor must remain in the PC until his evacuation. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to the exclusion of the competitor in future sporting events of the organization. If, in addition, the competitor does not wait for the evacuation offered by the organization, his transfer will be at his own risk.
  • H2. The PE will have duly identified support personnel, who will assist them until the moment of evacuation.
  • H3. The speed of the competitor’s evacuation will depend on the urgency, emergency, access conditions and availability of the personnel in charge.
  • H4. In cases of loss and emergency due to causes related to the competitor’s performance (lack of skill, recklessness, contempt of the rules and deviation from the marked route), the cost of the search and rescue will be borne by the competitor.


I. About Check Points (PC)

  • I1. The first Check Point (PC) will be on the Start line. From two hours before the competition, until 30 minutes before the competition. The judges will review the basic equipment of the competitor. Not having one of the elements required with Basic Equipment will be an impediment to the competitor’s departure.
  • I2. Throughout the race, the passage of competitors will be checked.
  • I3. The competitor must keep his bib visible. You should not place it on your back. You should not fold or store it.
  • I4. The Controller in each PC will mark his passage through said PC on the competitor’s bib
  • I5. The bib must be shown in its entirety, without hiding the race identification or the logos of the sponsors.
  • I6. The bib is non-transferable. Evidence of this fault will lead to disqualification.
  • I7. During the race, the mandatory basic equipment can be checked on any PC. Not having one of the required elements with Mandatory Basic Equipment will be a reason for disqualification. It is recommended to be careful not to accidentally leave any of the elements of the Mandatory Basic Equipment in the DropBag.
  • I8. If a competitor does not wish to continue the race on a PC, he may indicate this to the Controller and wait for his evacuation. The competitor must remain in the PC until his evacuation. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to the exclusion of the competitor in future sporting events of the organization. If, in addition, the competitor does not wait for the evacuation offered by the organization, his transfer will be at his own risk.


J. About sports behavior and respect for the environment

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • J1. The competitor agrees to respect all the indications given by the organization, in the game, during the route and on arrival. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to disqualification.
  • J2. The competitor agrees to treat all the organization’s management, logistics, Control and support staff with respect, as well as people from local communities, visitors and tourists. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to disqualification.
  • J3. The competitor agrees to conserve the environment. It is FORBIDDEN to carry any type of gel, candy, snack (cookies, bars, etc.) in their original packaging. Any of these products must be in gel bottles or ZIP LOCK bags. Anyone who leaves any kind of waste (bottles, bags, gel packs, paper) along the route will be disqualified from the competition.
  • J4. The competitor must follow the route marked by the organization. Cutting roads will carry a penalty of 2 hours.
  • J5.Getting on a vehicle, from the organization or a third party, will automatically lead to the disqualification of the participant.
  • J6. Every competitor is obliged to inform the next hydration point, accident or need that another participant has on the way. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to disqualification.
  • J7. Competitors who suffer the time cut must wait to be evacuated by the organization. If, in addition, the competitor does not wait for the evacuation offered by the organization, his transfer will be at his own risk.
  • J8. Attendance of the competitor of any kind by people outside the race is prohibited.
  • J9. As assistance is understood: provision of hydration and supplies outside of that offered by the Organization; personal advice en route of people not registered in the competition or without a properly placed bib number; transfer in any type of vehicle in part of the route. Failure to comply with this indication will lead to disqualification.


K. About the MANDATORY Equipment

The Andes Race regulations stipulate that:

  • K1. The mandatory basic equipment is for distances of 100K, 60K and 30K and this will be reviewed from 2 hours before the game until 30 minutes before the Game. Failure to present all the elements of the Basic Equipment will imply the cancellation of the competitor’s registration in the race without refund.

K2. Andes Race 100K – It is MANDATORY that they carry at all time:

  • APPLICATION (View Ranger, Gaia GPS, etc.) on the Cell phone with the DOWNLOADED route (request it from the organization)
  • Race Vest
  • Hydration System of at least 1.5 Liters
  • Survival Thermal Blanket
  • Survival knife
  • First Aid Kit (personal use pills, 2 antiallergics, gauze, sticking plaster)
  • Front light
  • Flashligh
  • Rear red light
  • Spare batteries
  • Coat (Jacket, thermal or polar sweater)
  • Windbreaker jacket
  • Gloves
  • Warm hat or bandana
  • Whistle
  • Mirror

RECOMMENDED:

  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen 

K3. Andes Race 60K – It is MANDATORY that they carry at all time:

  • APPLICATION (View Ranger, Gaia GPS, etc.) on the Cell phone with the DOWNLOADED route (request it from the organization)

K4. Andes Race 30K – It is MANDATORY that they carry at all time:

  • Survival Thermal Blanket

K5. Andes Race 10K – It is MANDATORY that they carry at all time:

  • Hydration system of at least 400 ml. (hand bottle, hydration belt, backpack, others)
  • Survival Thermal Blanket
  • Windbreaker jacket
  • Whistle
  • Mirror
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • APPLICATION (View Ranger, Gaia GPS, etc.) on the Cell phone with the DOWNLOADED route (request it from the organization)

L. About the award

  • L1. The awards ceremony will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday in Ollantaytambo.
  • L2. The first three places in the general category, female and male of each distance will be awarded.
  • L3. The prizes will be products of the sponsoring brands.
  • L4. The top three of each category, female and male, will be recognized in the Results Table.
  • L5. Only the route will be considered completed to those competitors passed through all the PC during the race.
  • L6. Only those competitors who have completed the course will appear in the Results Table.
  • L7. The Participation Medal will only be awarded to competitors who have completed the course.
  • L8. The variation of the results could be presented for the following reasons:
    • L8a. For faults to this regulation that cause penalty or disqualification.
    • L8b. For post-race appeals and within the deadlines indicated in these regulations.


M. About Appeals

  • M1. Any objection must be submitted in writing to the Race Director.
  • M2. The appeal must be filed up to two hours after the arrival of the competitor appealing.
  • M3. Valid appeals may modify the Results Table.


N. Liability Release

  • N1. The Kit pick up implies the total acceptance of the Release of Responsibility by the competitor, as well as his authorization to use all the images and audiovisuals that the organization disseminates by any lawful means.
  • N2. Any participant who has a PHYSICAL disability must inform the organization about it and is under the OBLIGATION to be accompanied by an ASSISTANT runner who complies with all the points mentioned above by the organization.
  • N3. This ASSISTANT participant must pay 50% of the registration of the participant he will attend.


O. About the participant

  • O1. If the participant decides not to participate in the race, they have until the deadline until the registration deadline (July 30) to transfer the registration.
  • O2. Under no circumstances is the refund made, the participant can transfer their registration to another person even before the registration deadline (July 30).
  • O3. The participant can be withdrawn from the race for not meeting the mandatory requirements in the Andes Race regulation.

P. In case you decide not to participate in the race for personal or health reasons:

  • P1. There will be no returns for registrations. Registrations can only be transferred by requesting it directly to the organization at info@andesrace.pe until July 30.
  • P2. In case you decide to change distance:
    • If the change is for a greater distance, the difference of the updated price will have to be paid.
    • In case of less distance, the change can be made but there will be no refund of money due to the difference in prices between one and the other.
    • You can only change distance until July 30 according to Andes Race regulations.

Q. About Participant Transportation:

  • R1. The organization is in charge of taking all runners from Cusco to all starting points of 13K, 30K, 60K and 100K and from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
  • R2. To do this, runners must confirm the use of transportation when filling out their REGISTRATION FORM with YES or NO.
  • R3. Having placed NO or not having answered the transport request field, means that they will not require the transport service, so their space in the BUSES will NOT be considered by the organization.
